An update from us on COVID-19

We’d like to thank each of our residents for their patience and understanding during this challenging time. The situation with COVID-19 is rapidly evolving and our first priority is always to ensure that we are providing all students with a safe and secure home.

Whether you are in your iQ home, or elsewhere, our team is standing by to support you and make sure that you have the clarity and comfort that you need during this difficult period.

We have been closely monitoring the impact that COVID-19 has had on university life, and the changes being made to tuition for the coming term. With the Government advising against all but essential travel and asking people to stay at home, some of you have been in touch to ask what this means for staying for the summer term, your accommodation rental payments, and your belongings.

We confirm the following:

•    For students who are staying for the summer term until the end of their tenancy agreement, you do not need to update us. Our teams will continue to operate the sites as effectively and safely as possible.

•    For students who wish or may need to extend their stay over the post-term summer months, we would like to reassure you that we will work with you to understand your needs and do all we can to facilitate your stay. For anyone who would like to enquire about this option, please get in touch with [email protected].

•    For students who will not be staying for the summer term and pay their rent directly to iQ, we can confirm that provided you let us know by 5pm on Thursday, 9th April 2020 by following this link and completing the check-out process, we won’t charge you for the remainder of your current tenancy, effective from the 18th April 2020. We will treat this as a surrender of your tenancy agreement with us and take your room as returned. If we haven’t heard from you by 5pm on Thursday, 9th April 2020, we will assume that you are staying with us until the end of your tenancy.

If you have already left the site but have not taken your belongings, please do not travel to site to collect these until current travel restrictions are lifted, and the country-wide lockdown is no longer in place. Your items will be safe in your room. Please stay in touch and we will work with you to arrange for you to collect your belongings only when it is safe to do so.

If you have already left the site and do not want to collect the rest of your belongings and wish to donate or dispose of them, please let us know as we will help to facilitate this.

If you have any questions about this update, please take a look at the FAQs section or contact a member of our team at [email protected] who are on hand to support you.
