9 cosy games for autumn and winter | iQ GamersClub

Autumn iQ life

November is objectively the cosiest month of the year, as the days get shorter and Christmas lights go up across our cities. If you don’t want to brave the treacherous English weather to go outside, gaming is a great way to pass the time. Your private room is a built-in cosy gaming zone, but did you know that many iQ locations have bookable gaming rooms, complete with consoles you can borrow?

Wherever you game, curling up with a blanket to run your own restaurant or battle zombies can be a great way to decompress after classes. If high stress games aren’t your thing, or tend to cause arguments in your friend group, (we’re looking at you, Overcooked) why not try out cosy gaming? Cosy games are perfect for playing alone or with friends and have become super popular in the past few years, giving you lots of options to choose from. Here are nine of our cosiest game recommendations to help you kick back this autumn.

Cosy Grove

Halloween is only just over, but if you’re in a spooky mood still, Cozy Grove is the game for you. A little like Animal Crossing, you camp on an island and hunt for clues to unlock new experiences. The big difference? The island is haunted! You can decorate your home (iQ room inspo anyone?), develop the island, and make friends with the neighbourhood spirits (and we bet they won’t forget to take the bins out!).

Little Kitty, Big City

A great way to take a pawse from your everyday life, especially if it’s overwhelming, Little Kitty, Big City has you play as a kitten, exploring a big city and getting into rambunctious but harmless trouble. The best game to play if you’re missing your childhood cat, or want to pretend that instead of walking to uni, you’re a little kitty exploring your town!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Ok, this does have a thrilling storyline, but it’s largely stress free. In this game, your aim is to rescue princess Zelda, but on the way, you can spend time roaming the fields of Hyrule on your horse, making friends with the Koroks and visiting the shops at Kakariko village! These side quests are the ultimate relaxing interlude before saving your princess.

Little Friends: Dogs & Cats

This game is the modern version of Nintendogs, and is filled with calming graphics of animals going about their everyday lives. The childhood nostalgia is so fun, and getting to fill your virtual home with the cutest cats and dogs can be so calming. If you’re a pet lover, this game is a great way to follow iQ’s no pet rule and get your fix of having a pet to take care of.

Animal Crossing

It would be remiss to not include Animal Crossing on a list about cosy gaming, as bumbling around your island, planting trees, collecting objects and serving helping Tom Nook is (in our opinion) the definition of cosy. Plus, Animal Crossing has so many different versions, there’s always more cosiness to explore.

MySims

MySims literally has a cosy mode, making it (arguably) the cosist game on this list. It comes with two versions, the ‘normal’ life , and a kingdom version where you can build your own medieval town! Whichever version you play, building a community filled with forests, lakes and cute ice cream stores is the best way to decompress after a busy day.

PlateUp

If you liked overcooked but didn't like how heated it can get in the kitchen, have you tried PlateUp? It’s a somewhat more relaxing cooking game, where you can make dishes and decorate your restaurants however you’d like while keeping up with a growing number of customers. The best part? The game changes each time you play, so there’s endless fun to be had with surprise upgrades and appliances.

Pokémon: Violet

Pokémon is technically an action game, but there’s no reason you can’t take your time frolicking through the fields and catching the cutest Pokémon. Naturally, we’re Snorlax obsessed because not only is he the cutest Pokémon, but he has ultimate cosy energy.

Minecraft

Minecraft is a childhood classic, but there’s no reason play has to end when you move out. Playing on creative mode is the cosiest way, unless your ability to avoid creepers is better than ours! Building super cool buildings, visiting friend's servers and going on missions = all the fun of being outside, without experiencing the cold. Plus, if you’re at an iQ location in, or near London, why not check out the Minecraft experience in Canada Water?
