Thinking of visiting the coast this summer? Why not head to the seaside town of Bournemouth, one of the top coastal destinations for students. Sea, sand and surf, this eclectic town has it all – and minutes from away from the train station and short walk from the centre is iQ Dorchester House.

Whether you’re planning a summer trip or studying there this autumn, this Scottish capital city boasts everything from dolphin spotting to extinct volcanoes. (Yes, we did say dolphins!) We have 3 sites in Edinburgh: iQ Elliott House, iQ Grove and iQ Fountainbridge, all with easy access to the city’s hot spots.
One of our favourites has to be the iconic Arthur’s Seat. Sitting at the heart of Holyrood Park, this extinct volcano provides a breathtaking backdrop for a walk, workout or summer picnic with your friends. If you’re heading off from iQ Elliott House, this will take you about 45 minutes from site to the summit. The trip is well worth it though, the view of the city below is one you won’t forget.
As well as amazing nightlife - did you know that Edinburgh has a nearby beach? The iconic Portobello Beach is located in the eastern side of Edinburgh between Leith and Musselburgh. Perfect for a summer’s day out, Portobello has long sandy beaches that face the Firth of Forth as well as cafés, restaurants, a water sports rental centre and an arcade. Dolphins have been spotted in the waters too, so whether you are there for a swim or to enjoy the ocean view, this beach is one not to miss. Portobello Beach is easy to get to via bus from the city centre and all iQ Edinburgh sites.
If you’re looking for a night out, Edinburgh has it all, from charming boozers to quirky cocktail joints. Why not go back in time to the Prohibition and head to Panda & Sons, a must visit for any student visiting Edinburgh. Get glammed up and enjoy a whiskey in the darkened basement of an authentic barbershop, complete with a jazzy soundtrack and incredible cocktails.
