How to celebrate Easter with iQ

Life in the UK Spring

Hoppy Easter from iQ! Whether you’re celebrating Easter with chocolate eggs, or just enjoying the break from uni, we’ve got a list of how you can embrace the Easter vibe at iQ.

Organise an Easter egg hunt

Round up your mates and organise a chocolate egg hunt around your iQ location. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned Easter egg hunt pro or if you’ve never done it before; all you need to do is hide some chocolate eggs and create a list of clues on where to find them. This childhood Easter classic is a great way to explore your iQ location, and maybe even discover parts you’ve never seen before. If you don’t wanna organise it, many iQ teams are organising mega-egg hunts for their residents – be sure to chat to your team and see what they’re planning.

Visit a farm near you

In the UK, Easter is synonymous with Spring – the sun starts appearing again, and there are baby chicks everywhere. Why not visit your local petting zoo or city farm to see some super cute animals?

  • Heely City Farm in Sheffield is a 20 minute bus from iQ Steel and home to the cutest animals, a garden centre and a cafe. Why not take your uni work, and get a study session in after you’ve looked around?
  • Spitalfields City Farm is a 15 minute walk from iQ Aldgate, and home to a range of super cute donkeys, chicks, bunnies and even a pig! Plus, they have a gardening scheme you can get involved in, if that’s more your Easter break vibe.
  • Windmill City Farm is 20 minutes from iQ Water Lane in Bristol and has more than just animals. They’ve got arts and crafts classes, volunteer sessions and even an on-site sauna to decompress in!
  • Heaton Park is only a 30 minute tram from iQ Lambert and Fairfield House, and home to the cutest lambs. Plus, it’s in a gorgeous park, so why not take a walk around after seeing the lambs and enjoy a day away from the city?
  • Meanwood Valley Farm in Leeds has alpacas, as well as typical farm animals. It’s also just 20 minutes from iQ Altus House - what more could you want?

Easter meal

If you’re hosting an Easter meal for your flatmates, or just wanna impress your family back home with the cooking skills you’ve picked up at uni, check out these traditional Easter recipes from around the world:

  • Chocolate easter nests – these are an iconic part of British Easter, and the perfect way to use up any leftover eggs from your hunt!
  • Roasted lamb – the OG Easter table centrepiece, this recipe is a healthier twist on a classic
  • Stuffed Italian artichokes – if you wanna get a bit fancy, try these stuffed artichokes that are a staple of the Easter dinner table
  • Torrijas – a Spanish Easter classic, made from just stale bread, milk, eggs and sugar!
  • Magiritsa soup – try a vegan version of this classic soup, created to break your fast for Lent in Greece
  • Cabbage rolls – for something a bit different, check out these Middle Eastern cabbage rolls as an appetiser

Easter crafts

We know that April can mean coursework deadlines, and exams looming. Why not carve out some time to look after your wellbeing, and Feel Good by doing a craft activity? Here are some of our faves.

  • Cosy Colouring: Easter – these colouring books have been trending all over TikTok, and their aesthetic pages now have an Easter twist
  • Easter Lego set – Lego may have been your fave as a kid, but it’s also super popular with adults! Check out this Easter bunny Lego set for a build-it-yourself ornament for your room
  • The Woobles: Easter chick - Whether you can crochet already, or wanna take this time to learn a new skill, grab this Easter Chick crochet kit and make a super cute buddy
  • Junk journalling – this is less Easter-centred, but your Easter break is a great time to pick up good mindfulness skills, like junk journalling!

And you don’t need to do crafts alone. Grab your besties to hang out together, or attend a craft evening at your iQ location, organised by your team at reception. Check your noticeboard on the iQ app for info on your next crafting session.

Check out the iQ Easter bunny

Our very own iQ Easter bunny visited iQ East-er Court to bring chocolate eggs to residents and take part in the TikTok challenge: double or nothing. You can see what else he got up too, including a day in his life, on our Instagram or TikTok
