Home to the legend of Robin Hood, Nottingham is Britain’s ninth-largest city, with lots to offer students. Its history-filled city centre is buzzing with bars, nightclubs, restaurants and lots of shops. Here's our guide to the city’s hotspots.

 

Entertainment

Cineworld – 5 minute walk

Only 5 minutes from iQ Newtown & Newland House, and 10 minutes from Exchange, Cineworld is conveniently located for a movie night. The cinema shows the latest movies, both 2D and 3D, and offers student discounts when you show your student card.

Stealth – 5 minute walk

Next door to Rock City is Stealth, which for many is Nottingham’s number one club. Playing the latest tunes week in, week out, Stealth is a popular choice amongst students. If you’re a fan of grime, bass or techno, you know where to go.

Revolution – 8 minute walk

This popular bar is in Corner House and has tons of events an offers, from 2 for 1 Happy Hour Cocktails and 50% off food to free entry nights and special group discounts. Here you’ll be able to choose from tons of different vodka flavours and dance to the latest hits.  

Rock City – 10 minute walk

Located only 10 – 15 minutes from both of our Nottingham properties, the world famous venue has regular live music events, ranging from Guns ‘n’ Roses to Paul Weller. They also host student nights every Thursday with 2 for 1 drinks.

Arboretum – 15 minute walk

The Arboretum is a large park which was first opened in the 19th Century. With lots of heritage and many events, including the Green Festival, it's a popular location amongst students all year round, and especially during the summer months.

 

Food and Drink

Bunkers Hill – 1 minute walk

This pub is less than 1 minute walk from iQ Exchange. It's perfect for any time of the year, as it features terrace seating outside and live music inside. 

The Lace Market – 7 minute walk

This is a large and popular area in the city centre, with lots of bars and food from all around the world. Only 7 minutes walk from Exchange, and 12 minutes' walk from Newtown & Newland House, you can enjoy the whole range of pubs and restaurants at a comfortable walking distance.

The Cross Keys – 7 minute walk

Filled with history, The Cross Keys is one of the most authentic pubs in Nottingham. With large seating areas and TVs, this cosy and casual pub is perfect for groups.

Restaurants – 8 minute walk

Walking distance of our buildings, there are tons of chain restaurants for you to enjoy. Five Guys, Billy’s and Wagamama are a popular choice, and really close.

 

Shopping

Supermarkets – 1 minute walk

Between the iQ Newtown & Newland buildings there's a Tesco Express which is open every day from 6am to 11pm. A range of supermarkets are within 5 - 10 minutes of iQ Exchange too. Whether you prefer Tesco, Oriental Mart or Aldi, your shopping needs will be covered.

intu Victoria  – 13 minute walk

This major shopping centre is minutes away from each iQ building with many major stores conveniently in one place. From beauty and pharmacy to clothes to electronics, intu Victoria is Nottingham’s go-to for a shopping spree.

 

Travel

iQ Newtown & Newland House is 5 minutes' walk from Nottingham Trent University. iQ Exchange is 15 minutes' walk.

All buildings are a 15-20 minute bus ride from the University of Nottingham. You can get either bus 14 or 21 and be there before you know it.

All buildings are less than 5 minutes walk from the city centre.
