Meet the Team: iQ The Brickworks, York

York iQ life

Our York site, iQ The Brickworks, is lucky enough to be located in one of the north of England’s finest heritage cities. The home of students from both York St John University and the University of York, The Brickworks offers some excellent facilities and a homely atmosphere, with residents able to enjoy a gym, cinema, courtyard and garden.

Today, we meet the team who you’ll be getting to know if you’re heading to The Brickworks – Phoebe, Jordan, Allex, David and Ashlea.

Hey, it’s Phoebe!

I’m Phoebe and I’m the Operations Manager for iQ Brickworks.

What makes your iQ a special place to live?

The team make it special. We all have a passion for what we do and a pride in the site. We always want to do our best to make the site a great place to live and work.

What are your favourite places to go in York?

I love it down by the river, you can walk for ages in either direction. Walking the walls is also lovely, you get some great views and get to take in some of the city’s history.

What are you looking forward to this year?

Welcoming all the new students. The move-in weekends are stressful but it’s so much fun and there’s a great buzz around site.

What about your iQ are you most proud of?

This site is my baby, I started whilst it was still being built so its lovely to see how much the site has settled. The landscaping and the trees/borders come into their own - it just adds this extra to the site. I am proud to see the journey it’s been on and that we still like to make sure it’s looking its best all the time.

What’s your favourite band/ TV show/ movie?

Guilty pleasure is Love Island. But I also love Peaky Blinders and Line of Duty. Band wise, I honestly listen to pretty much anything, however, one of my fave bands of all time is Motley Crue.

Where is the best place you have travelled to recently?

Iceland! Honestly, one of the best places, the landscapes are beautiful. I would definitely recommend going, especially to the Blue Lagoon.

If you could give your younger self some advice about student life, what would it be?

Don’t take life too seriously, don’t care what people think too much, make the most of it, have fun and do you.

Any interesting facts about yourself?

I worked for Saracens Rugby Club for five years in Events before I got into property.

Hey, it’s Jordan!

Who are you and what do you do at IQ?

What are your favourite places to go in York?

York Minster, the largest medieval cathedral in Northern Europe. It has amazing views of the city from the top of the tower.

What’s your favourite band/ TV show/ movie?

What makes your iQ a special place to live?
