Happy New Year from all of us at iQ. We hope you had a chance to celebrate all you achieved last year and are looking forward to a rewarding year ahead.
After a busy 2018 which saw the opening of our brand new Collingwood site in Newcastle and a whole new suite of London properties joining the iQ family, 2019 is shaping up to be another eventful year – and there’s a few things we’re excited to tell you about right now. If you’re studying in the north of England later this year and are already planning your perfect room, there’s lots of good news from three of the region’s big student cities.
You may already know about our four existing Sheffield sites: Brocco, Century Square, Fenton House and Steel. You might even be living in one of them now. Well, there’s a new addition to the group opening in time for autumn 2019.
Knight House is a brand new building, located on St George’s Close – that’s about 5 minutes’ walk from the University of Sheffield campus at Western Bank. And, because it’s brand new, those who move in this year will be the first to enjoy a suite of fresh social spaces. We particularly like the dining area and the amphitheatre-style cinema, which is going to be a great place to get together and enjoy movie nights. There’s lots of nice areas to study and just hang out as well (and some pretty good views over the city).
We have also incorporated a particularly wide range of accommodation at Knight House, so you can choose a place that’s right for you. Whether your own bathroom is a necessity or a luxury you can live without, you’ll find both en suite and non-en suite options, and there are studios with their own kitchen facilities as well as rooms in shared flats.
The show apartment is ready for viewings, so please get in touch if you would like to take a look for yourself.
Another iQ comes to Manchester
We’re also pleased to announce that Manchester Gardens has recently been added to our offering – open to all from autumn 2019. This new iQ location is just south of the city centre, and it’s easy to hop on the bus to whichever of the city’s universities you’re studying at; it takes less than 15 minutes.
Manchester Gardens has fewer social facilities than our sites like Lambert & Fairfield House and Wilmslow Park, so you won’t have a bowling alley or a karaoke room, but if that’s not a problem for you, it’s a great value choice. All the essentials are there, like free WiFi, bike storage and an onsite laundry, and the rooms are all en suite. It’s a nice location too, and yes, there are actual gardens – with a barbecue spot you can look forward to using when things are a bit warmer than they are now!
If you’re off to the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan, the Royal Northern College of Music or anywhere else in the city, we’d love to welcome you to Manchester Gardens, iQ-style.
Stephenson House is reborn in Newcastle
Our other site in Newcastle, Stephenson House, is currently closed and undergoing a big transformation – and when it reopens for 2019/20 it will be better than ever. The whole place has been refreshed, refurbished and reconfigured, with enhanced social spaces and a range of new room types and apartments. It’s virtually unrecognisable!
This is another residence that’s all about the essentials of student life. Rooms are now more comfortable and modern, with space to sleep and study, and the shared kitchens, living areas and bathrooms have also been upgraded, adding extra style to a social living experience. You’ve also got some very handy amenities right on your doorstep, and the city centre within walking distance.
Stephenson House is in a great location for Northumbria University students, as it’s only 5 minutes away, but we’re pleased to be welcoming many Newcastle University students too. Whichever of this fine city’s institutions you’ll be studying at in 2019/20, you can book your room well ahead of time and take advantage of the best prices and best choice. Stop by if you’re in the area and we’ll show you around.
And, as if all that wasn’t enough, we’re working on all sorts of things to make the iQ experience even better in 2019. So, keep your eyes open for more news from us soon – and have an amazing New Year, wherever you are.
