Site spotlight: iQ Pavilions

Bordered by Lincoln University, iQ Pavilions is in the thick of a vibrant student village just off Ruston Way. Due to our central location, the walk to main campus is just 5 minutes away – with Lincoln’s best bars, clubs and pubs right on your doorstep.

From the colourful, cultural city to the onsite best bits, let’s join Rosie from our iQ Pavilions team to tell you what life is like at this Lincoln site.

Lincoln

Best bits

“Welcome to iQ Pavilions! We’re a close-knit community right next to the main campus. At site, we have a fun mix of flats, en suites and studios, designed to suit all student budgets and lifestyles, whether you want the privacy of living alone or the laughter of living together. A lot of the students find out who they are living with before moving in, by joining our private Facebook residents’ group. We also organise a lot of our social events through this.

Although the campus library is just moments away, our study spaces at Pavilions are designed to help you knuckle down and recharge your batteries whenever you need to. Once you’re done, you can join the rest of your newly made friends and chill out in our common space, which is open 24/7! We have game consoles for everyone to use, plus ping pong and pool tables - a big favourite of our students here.

Outside, we have an onsite garden where we have planted herbs and vegetables – such as radishes, carrots, potatoes and broad beans. All residents are welcome to get involved with the garden and use whatever is grown for their own cooking. Perfect for both lowering stress levels and experimenting in the kitchen.

With #ThinkGreen at our core, at Pavilions we’re also always look for new ways to become more sustainable. Working with eco companies such as Terracycle, residents are able to recycle normally ‘unrecyclable’ items such as stationery and crisp packets. You’ll also be able to donate any unwanted household items to the BHF, and the toiletries, such as make-up, to St Charles’ Hospital as part of the Beautiful People project.

What’s around iQ Pavilions?

Forget about being late for lectures. If you make iQ Pavilions your home, you’ll be based right next to the University of Lincoln, including the library and music venue: The Engine Shed. Pavilions also offers the ultimate in location if you’re studying a degree related to sports or science. It is just under 10 minutes’ walk from both the University Sports Centre and the Joseph Banks Laboratories.

For any university or food essentials, Morrisons is nearby- as well as Starbucks, McDonald’s and Pizza Hut. Ideal for exam season!

Lincoln City Centre is right at your doorstep and with the nearest bus station just 6 minutes from site, on weekends you can use the local bus routes to explore the rest of your new neighbourhood. If you decide to move in early for the summer, the bus station also has a direct link to Skegness, perfect for a beach day out with your new flatmates before the semester starts (our personal fave here at site).”

Must-visit spots in Lincoln

In a city full of iconic landmarks, you’ll always find a reason to step out and explore the vibrant culture that Lincoln has to offer. Did you know that the city is actually known for its historic roots, which can be traced back as far as 300 BC? Many buildings and areas of the city still have their original structure.

On sunny days, Brayford Waterfront is the place to be. Join a boat trip on the Brayford Belle or rent a bike and cycle along the waterways. After, you can stop for a pint at the Royal William IV pub. Enjoy the hustle and bustle of The Cornhill Quarter, or lose yourself in the beauty of Hartsholme Country Park.

Our top tip? Head out early on a Sunday morning to Lincoln Cathedral, which was the world’s tallest building for 237 years. The area around it is surrounded by independent local retailers, quaint coffee shops and historic pubs to relax in after your hike up the iconic Steep Hill. You’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over the city and Lincoln countryside – and it’s only a 25-minute walk from site.

Wherever you decide, iQ Pavilions is central to everything Lincoln offers. You can check out more fun things do as a student in our Lincoln City Guide on Instagram.
