We tend to feel stress when we’re experiencing pressure (e.g., during exam season), and too much stress can become overwhelming. April is Stress Awareness Month, so we’ve put together some things you can do to help ease stress and find more moments of calm.
Being in nature can help with stress. Try a walk in a local park, a picnic with friends or even just opening your window to hear the birds and get some fresh air.
Relax your mind with colouring, writing, painting, crocheting, reading, yoga or meditation - anything that doesn’t involve a screen.
Whether that’s hitting the social spaces with friends, calling your loved ones or joining a society at your university, being around others is a great way to chill out and connect.
Moving your body can give you a mood boost, e.g., an online workout video, a run, a university sports club, the iQ gym or any other exercise you prefer.
Getting enough sleep can help you feel more prepared for the day - check out your free Headspace subscription for some relaxing sleepcasts.
Fuelling your body with the things it needs can help you feel more energised and positive. Join iQ SupperClub for recipe inspo on the app.
Your iQ teams will be hosting some Feel Good events towards the end of April to mark Stress Awareness Month. You can check what’s coming up on the iQ app noticeboard.
Reaching out for support can be really helpful when it comes to stress. Our wellbeing partners, Shout, The Mix and Student Minds, are here for you to use at any time. It can also be useful to share how you’re feeling with your university, as some of them offer things like free support or deadline extensions.
