Study spaces to try this exam season

Studying University

Let’s face it, studying and revising for exams is hard. While you have a desk in your room and designated study spaces at iQ, changing up where you study can keep things interesting by giving you more variety. See if you fancy any of the ideas below:

Your fave café

If you’re okay with background noise, or have noise-cancelling headphones, head to a cute café for a study session. Check they have plug sockets and wifi if you’re taking devices, and make sure laptops are allowed. Then settle into a comfy chair with a delicious beverage (and a slice of cake) and get focused.

Outdoors at iQ

Stay close to home and try out the outdoor spaces if your iQ building has them. Bring flashcards out to the courtyard, type revision notes in the garden or test your friends on the roof or sky terrace. Be sure to bring suncream and a hat if it’s hot, plus a drink and a snack to fuel that big brain of yours.

Your uni or local library

Work best in silence? Head to your uni library and find a nook for the day’s study sesh. If there’s an official quiet zone, even better. Most uni libraries have a café and/or vending machines, so you’ll have somewhere to grab some well-earned food. Public libraries are also free to visit and often have their own study spaces available.

Your mate’s room

Sometimes, just heading to your mate’s room for a chat or to test each other’s knowledge can be a helpful switch up. Popping to see your friend for a bit can provide a welcome change of scenery from locking in at your desk or in the study space.

iQ social spaces

They may not be the quietest, but if you’re discussing work with mates or have noise-cancelling headphones handy, studying in your building’s social spaces can break up your usual routine. Try out your lounge, sky lounge or gaming area. Plus, you can reward yourself in your study breaks with a quick game of pool or ping pong, an arcade session or even a karaoke song or two.
