How to top up your summer of bests

Summer jobs Summer

Whether you’re staying at iQ or heading home, we’ll bet you’ve got some fun summer plans lined up. However, making lots of plans can mean spending more money. We’re here to share how you can make extra cash this summer, to top up your summer of bests.

Sell second-hand

Give your belongings a new lease of life by selling them second-hand. Vinted is a great place to start. Simply list your items at a recommended price (remember to take clear photos) and wait for the buyers to descend. Did you know you can also sell non-clothing items on Vinted, like books, DVDs, jewellery etc?

Use your cashback

You may have already used your iQ cashback, but if you’ve got any left over, what better way to spend it than on amazing summer memories? You could use it to buy some tasty picnic food, a session at a lido or simply a refreshing ice cream from the ice cream van.

Look for part-time jobs at your university

Universities often have jobs available for students, like helping out on open days, showing around Freshers, being a student ambassador or working in the library, student union or campus café. The jobs tend to be flexible as the unis know you’ll need time to study and attend classes. It’s always useful to have a shift here and there to tide you over, and hey, you might even have fun!

Look for part-time jobs in your local area

Another option for picking up part-time work is seeing if any businesses in your area are hiring. You could work an evening a week in a bar or restaurant or a morning a week in a café. Top tip: instead of only searching for vacancies online, pop into businesses and ask if they’re hiring or would consider it. Independent and small businesses don’t always post their vacancies online, but they may be grateful for an extra pair of hands.
