Top takeaways from the iQ Feel Good Summit 2025

iQ Feel Good Wellbeing Week Uni Mental Health Day

It’s Wellbeing Week at iQ, a time to focus on how we’re supporting you to feel your best. To help get us warmed up, we hosted our 3rd Feel Good Summit last week and invited teams and Feel Good Ambassadors from across the country to learn more about wellbeing, share ideas and inspire each other. From Q&As to a buzzing lunchtime marketplace, the day was all about celebrating individuality and building community.

We’ve put together some key takeaways from the day that can help benefit your wellbeing, setting you up for a best year yet.

Mindfulness techniques

We know uni life can be stressful at times. Try these mindfulness exercises, shared by Feel Good Ambassador Ally, to boost your mood and feel more present.

Gratitude

Keeping a gratitude journal is a great way to practise mindfulness and bring more joy into your life – Ally says it makes him feel ‘warm and fuzzy inside’. To start a gratitude practice, just jot down a few things you’re grateful for each day. And that’s it. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you can always read back through your journal for a little reminder of positive things in your life.

Five Senses Grounding Technique

This exercise involves thinking about five things you can see, four things you can feel, three things you can hear, two things you can smell and one thing you can taste, to bring your focus into the present moment. Ally recommends really trying to describe each item in your mind, so you feel the calming and relaxing benefits.

Student Minds

Our partner, Student Minds, has a website with great resources to support you and your wellbeing while you’re at uni. There’s also a section called Student Space, which has info on all things uni life, from mental health to finances. It shares helpful stories from other students and shows you what support is out there, including what’s offered by your uni. Student Minds’ Izzy Watkins told us over 600,000 students have visited Student Space since 2020, and her team are continuously updating it and adding new content. Check it out here.

Building community

Finding a community at uni is great for your wellbeing. That’s why we’ve got iQ events and iQ Clubs to help you find yours. Taking part in events or joining a club gives you the opportunity to make new friends, discover a love for something new or just feel less lonely.

In iQ Clubs, there are thousands of residents to connect with. Did you know iQ BookClub and iQ SupperClub have 2.7k members each? Our Chinese Student Social Club has even more members – a huge 6.7k. Being part of a club gives you access to all its social media, giveaways and events. Check out clubs here and find your tribe.

iQ properties often hold their own events, to help you meet others in your building and bond over a shared activity. Residents told us they love events that involve interactive games (with prizes, of course) and sharing food with others. Look out for events happening at your iQ by speaking to your team and checking posters or the events board – you could even organise your own, whether that’s a group dinner in your shared kitchen or a movie marathon in the onsite cinema.
