Three top tips for trying out Veganuary | iQ SupperClub

Cooking Food Healthy lifestyle

January is synonymous with New Years resolutions, and if you’re spending the month trialling a plant-based diet, we’ve got you covered with three top tips for embracing a vegan diet.

Scour your nearest Supermarket

Living life in the centre with iQ means you’re always near a supermarket. Check out the plant-based aisle and look out for the green V (standing for vegan) on the food you pick up. For total beginners, we recommend:

  • Tofoo – chop this up into cubes, season to your liking and roast for 30 minutes for a great chicken substitute. We recommend serving with rice for an easy meal.
  • Violife Epic Mature – this vegan cheese is the closest to real cheese, and melts amazingly, perfect for a pizza night.
  • Vegetarian Butcher – a company that offers faux meat alternatives ranging from steak to ham! Their vegan chicken nuggets are amazing for a quick after-class dinner.

Cook up a storm

If you’re in a studio or apartment, embrace the space and turn your kitchen into a vegan paradise, and use some of the recipes we’ve been sharing on SupperClub over on the iQ app. If you’ve got an en suite, no stress, because holding a vegan cooking evening with your flatmates means you’ll all learn a new recipe.

Explore your local vegan options

If you’re tired of cooking at home, we’ve got you covered with a list of vegan-friendly spots in your city:

  • Novapizza, Edinburgh. - An all-vegan Italian restaurant with a gluten-free menu, making it the spot for a friend's dinner out – their Pistachio tirimasu is a must-try.
  • OMNOM, Birmingham. - A vegetarian Indian resturant with great vegan options, OMNOM is new to Birmingham.
  • Doner Summer, Leeds. - Right by the corn exchange, this all vegan fast-food place is a great after class treat.
  • Mowgli. - A Indian street food chain, Mowgli is in a tonne of iQ cities and has super tasty vegan options, plus their seats are swings!
  • Down the Hatch, Liverpool. - A vegan spot with Chinese takeaway-style options, as well as burgers. We recommend their bao buns!

Your iQ city not in this list? Check out our video on Instagram for more suggestions in Newcastle, London, Manchester and Leeds.

We’re sharing recipe ideas, holding giveaways, and more in our SupperClub on the iQ app all year round. Join today via the iQ app for a chance to win a vegan Indian meal kit, or next month's prize, themed around Chinese New Year.
