And that’s a wrap! Another year down of Wellbeing Week at iQ.
This year we lived and breathed our wellbeing initiative- Embrace. Explore. Do. - through an eclectic events schedule, covering everything from volunteering, learning new skills to exercising creative muscles.
Whether you are into plant therapy or meditation, catch up on what went on throughout the week below.
To kick off the week, on Monday we hosted a live IGTV event with our partners at Shout, who offer a free confidential text support service to students in the UK.
It can be hard to talk about mental health, so Counsellor Christine advised our residents on different ways to have these conversations, whether it be with family, friends, or colleagues. Our followers were able to ask Christine questions real-time in the live event hosted on our Instagram.

On Tuesday, we followed with a study hacks workshop, run by My Professor - an academic tutoring agency. Attendees received expert advice on how to upskill their assignment planning and make the most of mind mapping and research strategies, perfect to give your essays that extra boost.
Don’t worry if you weren’t able to make this event – explore upskilling and tune into their workshop recording here.
With spring just around the corner, on Wednesday we focused on embracing new beginnings and attitudes. Counsellor Holly, from Relate, hosted a refreshing IGTV all about handling friends and current relationships.
If you need some advice on this, have a watch of Holly’s Q&A episode.
Thursday was University Mental Health Day and the meditation experts at Headspace taught us the importance of just this.
Lucy from Headspace hosted an exclusive webinar, helping our residents embrace the basics around meditation and how best to use the Headspace app – to which all iQ residents can get a free subscription. If you want to explore the science behind mindfulness, plus learn tips on how to incorporate Headspace content into your routine, watch the Headspace Webinar here.

For our budding plant-lovers, on Friday we offered our residents the chance to explore something new, through a Terrarium Masterclass led by horticulturalist Sue Jefferies. Back again for a second year, Sue ran our Manchester residents through the art of caring, creating and cultivating mini-gardens. If you’re looking for an activity perfect for de-stressing, check out Sue’s Terrarium Masterclass recording.
Looking for some inspirational organisations to follow? Friday also saw a special iQ Social Channels x Ethical Angel Wellbeing Week takeover. From Anxious Minds to Real Brain Book, see below who made it on their must-#FollowFriday list:

We concluded Wellbeing Week 2021 with two Homegrown Hobbies episodes over on our Instagram. @Tabslifts took our followers through a 20-minute HIIT exercise on Saturday, highlighting the importance of exploring exercise and keeping active, and on Sunday @elenahandontrack shared her top tips for embracing a new language. You can watch both episodes on our IGTV here : iQ Students IGTV .
And that’s it! We hope you enjoyed Wellbeing Week as much as we did! Until next year…
