Student city guide to Leeds

The city’s nightlife has a reputation for being some of the best in the UK, with a new wave of venues opening in recent years in repurposed industrial spaces. Shopping in Leeds is a dream, from the 600+ independent stalls of the huge Kirkgate Market through to the more glitzy and glamorous options. The city also has a great sporting heritage, with football, cricket and rugby all muscling in on the action.

A huge range of festivals in Leeds and the surrounding area include the VW Festival, the Leeds Yoga & Wellness Festival and the legendary Leeds Festival. There’s also the glorious Light Night, which brings two nights of light projections, installations and art to iconic spaces in the city. With such a variety of activity all year round and one of the biggest student populations in the UK, it’s a great place to study.
