With over 70,000 students, Manchester is a buzzing place to study. It’s one of the UK’s musical hotspots, with a great club and gig scene and a heritage that gave the world Oasis, The Stone Roses and The Smiths.
Music is still a huge part of life in the city. Festivals over the summer include the massive Parklife and Manchester Pride, centred around the city’s gay village. Warehouse Project is a local institution, bringing the world’s biggest electronic music acts to a gargantuan space in the city centre during term time. As you’d expect with its vibrant musical history, there are plenty of great record shops about. And it’s no surprise that the BBC chose neighbouring Salford as the location for their new Northern studios.
