A famously industrial town in Greater Manchester, Salford has seen a huge amount of regeneration in recent years. It’s now one of the most exciting spots in the north. Home of MediaCityUK — where CBBC, BBC Sport and ITV Granada are headquartered — there’s no better place in the UK for students wanting to get into media.
Music tourists travel from all over the world to experience Salford’s legacy. The Smiths’ frontman Morrissey grew up in the city and the band’s most iconic photo was taken in front of Salford Lads Club. Members of Joy Division and New Order also called the city home. There are a load of festivals in the surrounding area, and a short journey into central Manchester means that students in Salford get the benefits of the bars, restaurants and nightlife the city is known for.

For culture-seekers, Salford Museum and Art Gallery is next door to campus, and The Lowry is a theatre and modern art space on the quayside. Sports fans are looked after too, with Manchester being home to two of the country’s biggest football teams.
