With over 20,000 people studying at the University of Plymouth alone, the city has a great student scene. With loads of nightlife, a growing food and drink scene that makes the most of outstanding fresh seafood, and several major music festivals across the summer, all tastes are catered for in Plymouth.

Plymouth’s coastal location has made it influential in the field of marine conservation. It’s home to the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, and its National Marine Aquarium is a key local attraction. The waterfront areas include pretty marinas and the 17th-century Royal Citadel. It’s also a surfing hotspot.

Student city guide to Preston

A city dominated by its huge student population, Preston enjoys excellent amenities and beautiful surroundings. Our student accommodation is close to it all, including the university campus.

Preston is home to the University of Central Lancashire, the sixth-biggest uni in the country with over 33,000 students. With Preston's total population only four times that big, it really offers a great student experience. In town you’ll find excellent entertainment options, including three cinemas, a virtual reality attraction and escape rooms.
 
Shopping spots include the Miller Arcade, a listed building that houses a clutch of specialist shops. The arts and culture scene is bustling too, with a range of city spaces including the Harris Museum & Art Gallery and several theatre and music venues.

The great outdoors is on Preston’s doorstep, with nearby excursions including Beacon Fell Country Park, Bowland Wild Boar Park and Turbary Woods Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary. There are also many beautiful walks and cycling routes in the area.

Salford has seen a huge amount of regeneration in recent years.
