Student Recipe: delicious Christmas cocktails


With Christmas just around the corner, we're getting into the festive spirit with some delicious Christmas drinks recipes. We've selected four tasty Christmas cocktails (including a tasty mocktail for any non-drinkers) for you to enjoy throughout December.

If you're having a Christmas meal with your flatmates, these are the perfect drinks to serve while you carve the turkey and belt out some Christmas tunes...

Have fun making them and enjoy drinking them (in moderation!)


Non-alcoholic Festive Punch


You will need:

  • Lemonade
  • Cranberry juice
  • Ginger beer
  • Fresh cranberries
  • Oranges



  1. Cut the oranges into thin slices or wedges.
  2. In each glass, combine equal parts lemonade, cranberry juice and ginger beer.
  3. Add a spoonful of cranberries and a piece of orange to make it look pretty!


If you do want to make an alocholic version of this cocktail, just add a splash of vodka


Baileys and Coffee Cocktail


This one's pretty strong, so please drink responsibly!

You will need:

  • Coffee
  • Baileys
  • Vanilla Vodka



  1. Make a pot of strong coffee and allow to cool.
  2. Poor into an icecube tray and freeze.
  3. Mix equal parts baileys and vanilla vodka and serve in a glass full of frozen coffee cubes.


Winter Pimms Punch


You will need:

  • PIMM's Winter
  • Apple juice
  • Apples
  • Oranges
  • Lemons



  1. Warm apple juice in a saucepan over a low heat, stirring frequenrtly.
  2. Slice fruit into thin wedges. 
  3. Mix one part PIMM's Winter with three parts warm apple juice
  4. Add a mix of fruit to each glass and pour the punch over.


Sparkling Apple Cider Sangria


You will need:

  • Apples
  • Cognac
  • Apple cider
  • Sparkling wine
  • 1 fresh pomegranate (optional)



  1. Peel and core two apples. Slice thinly.
  2. Mix apple slices together with ice cubes in a large bowl or jug.
  3. Mix together 1/2 cup cognac, 2 cups of apple cider and 750ml sparkling wine . Pour this mixture over the ice and apples.
  4. Pour into glasses to serve and sprinkle some pomegranate seeds on top.
