The iQ leadership team brings significant combined experience across the real estate, student accommodation, hospitality and leisure sectors.
With headquarters in London and Manchester, our management team leads a 584-strong workforce, empowered to contribute to the success of the business through locally based decision making. Rob was appointed Executive Chairman in July 2021, having joined iQ as Chief Executive Officer in June 2016. Prior to this, Rob was the CEO of Spire Healthcare for five years, having previously held the position of CFO for the company since 2007 and was successful in floating the company as a FTSE 250 PLC in April 2014. In addition, Rob held the role of CFO at Tussauds Group for nine years, leading the company’s sale to Merlin Entertainment PLC. Rob is a Chartered Accountant, with substantial experience in strategy, finance, operations and business development.
Chief Executive Officer
Matt was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in July 2021, having joined iQ in 2017 as Chief Operating Officer. He has been the driving force behind developing iQ’s digital platforms, and an increased focus throughout the business on the customer experience. Matt previously held leadership positions at Virgin Active, including Finance Director, UK Managing Director and then European COO. During his time at Virgin Active, Matt led successful integrations following two major mergers and was responsible for the launch of the company’s luxury offer, The Collection.
Chief Investment Officer
Dush joined iQ as Chief Investment Officer in April 2021, bringing over 18 years of real estate investment experience. Dush joined from Intu Properties PLC where he was CIO, and on the group executive committee, with responsibility for leading the group’s investment strategy, corporate investment and M&A activity. During 10 years with Intu, Dush oversaw more than £6bn in transactions. Prior to this, he held real estate investment roles at MGPA (now Blackrock) and Pengana Capital, and spent four years in UBS Investment Bank’s Real Estate Investment Banking division.
Chief Operating Officer
Dominic is iQ’s Chief Operating Officer, and joined the business in July 2021. Dominic joined from Vue International, one of the world’s leading cinema operators, where he held the role of Group Executive Director, responsible for the commercial strategy and performance of 225 sites across nine countries. Prior to this, Dominic held the roles of Chief Customer Officer at Metro UK, Managing Director at Lonely Planet and had an early career in brand, marketing and customer experience at Sainsburys and Pepsi.
General Counsel and Chief of Staff
Alex is a corporate lawyer with 20 years’ experience. She has held various general counsel roles in the financial services industry, including General Counsel for the Emerging Markets division of RSA Insurance, before joining Novae Group plc as General Counsel and Company Secretary. Prior to moving in house, she spent seven years in private practice with Allen & Overy and Travers Smith. Alex joined iQ in October 2018.
Chief Financial Officer
James joined iQ in May 2017 and was permanently appointed to the role of CFO in July 2021. Prior to joining iQ, James held UK and European commercial finance roles at Virgin Active over a period of 5 years. Before that he was a Director at Deloitte in the Transactions Services team, focused mainly on private equity. James qualified as a chartered accountant at Deloitte in 2004.
Chief Development Officer
Matthew joined iQ in 2022, having most recently spent two and a half years as Group Development Director at Unite Students, responsible for all development and construction activity. Prior to this, Matthew led the joint venture division of Bellway, London Partnerships, and spent 10 years as a Director at K2 Consultancy where he led significant residential and student accommodation developments. With 35 years’ experience, Matthew brings considerable sector knowledge and development expertise the executive team.
Director of Strategy and Shareholder Relations
Pete joined the team as Director of Strategy and Shareholder Relations in May 2021. Pete brings 18 years’ experience in Real Estate M&A and Investment Management, as well as significant experience in the student accommodation sector. Pete joined from Global Student Accommodation (GSA), and prior to this spent 12 years at Liberty Living as Investment Director, working alongside the CEO and leadership team to deliver the growth strategy for the business. During his time with Liberty Living, the company almost doubled its bed numbers.
Director of Research and External Engagement
David has been with iQ since 2008, and brings over 25 years’ experience in the Higher Education sector. David is responsible for the development and nurturing of iQ’s strategic partnerships with universities across the UK. David has held senior roles at a number of UK institutions including Goldsmiths, SOAS and UCLAN and most recently Director of Residential Services at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also a founding member and current chairman of the British Property Federation’s Student Accommodation Committee.
