hmv Empire

hmv Empire Coventry is a venue that hosts some of the most popular artists from around the world. It’s just around the corner from Coventry Market and has three bars and a sizable balcony overlooking the town centre. 

It’s a pretty groovy place for students who love music, so make sure to keep track of who’s playing. Hit the dancefloor on the weekends or grab a drink with some friends after lectures during the week. 

147 Nightclub

147 Nightclub is one of many Coventry nightclubs known for its awesome music and good drink specials. Resident DJs play some of the biggest tunes all night and sometimes 147 Nightclub hosts guest DJs who are masters at mixing big Indie hits. 

It’s close to Coventry University and about a ten-minute drive from our accommodation - iQ Weaver Place. Ready to hit the dance floor? Make sure to visit their website to see what events are coming up. 

Glamorous

Glamorous is another incredible nightclub making waves in Coventry City nightlife. 

The venue is pretty big - with three distinct spaces spread over three floors. The first floor consists of a lounge where you can hang out and grab a drink. 

The second and third floors host the ‘club room’ where resident DJs play sets all night. Glamorous is also one of the largest gay bars in Coventry and hosts some of the world’s most award-winning drag artists. 

Best places for drinks and cocktails

If you’re looking for a lowkey night out, there are lots of nice places in Coventry to grab a casual drink and bite to eat with some friends. With just over a hundred pubs in Coventry town centre to choose from, we’ve tried whittling it down to just a few of the best places for drinks and cocktails below. 

The Artisan Bar and Grill

The Artisan Bar and Grill was established in 2012 and is renowned for its delicious local menu and impressive gin selection (they have over 200 gins behind the bar). 

The restaurant is set in a Grade 2 listed building and used to be a local Watchmakers. Make sure to book before visiting the Artisan Bar and Grill as it can get quite busy. It’s conveniently located in Belgrade Plaza and is just a few minutes walk from our local student accommodation.  

The Botanist Coventry

The Botanist is one of many popular bars in Coventry featuring good food, drinks and live music - it’s a student hotspot on the weekends. 

Besides its yummy menu and spacious terrace, The Botanist hosts fun events like monthly bingo nights and cocktail masterclasses, so you’re guaranteed to have a memorable time here with your friends. 

Dhillons Spire Bar

Bespoke cocktails? Check. Mouth-watering street food? Check. Dhillons Spire Bar is a local brewery that boasts an amazing array of photo-worthy cocktails and malty pints, making it an awesome place for students in Coventry. They also host weekly quiz nights, live music and themed events, so you’re bound to meet new people while having lots of fun. 

Dhillons Spire Bar gets its name because it’s located in a former church spire. Want to go check it out? If you use local transport, Dhillons is about a 10-minute trip from our Weaver Place accommodation and a few minutes walk from the University of Coventry. 

Cosy Club

Cosy Club stays true to its name and is a welcoming spot for drinks and nibbles in Coventry. Its glamorous interior pairs well with its delicious coolers and all-day eating menu. It’s also student-friendly, offering several discounts on bottomless brunch, graduation celebrations and teatime tipples.

Hidden gems in Coventry

Are you an aspiring singer? Players Entertainment is a popular karaoke and private party room hire venue in the heart of Coventry.

Tenpin Coventry

Tenpin Coventry is open until late so you can enjoy a fun night of bowling with friends.
