Loving yourself this Valentines Day

Valentines Day is usually very focused on spending time with other people and spreading love and joy, but it's also equally as important to spend time with yourself so you can get to know yourself a bit better. That's why we're sharing some great tips by Eliza on how she loves herself a bit better this month.

Going for a walk

I start off my day going for a walk at my local park and really concentrate on being out with nature with my thoughts. If you're unable to go for walk you can send time in nature or open your door or hang out in the garden, we should try our best to get out and have that fresh air whilst spending time with ourselves.

Be Creative

when I get home from taking a walk I will do something creative, for me I love colouring it's a great way to concentrate and i get really immersed into the colouring. It helps me to destress and just stop but still allows me to be creative. You can do whatever creative activity you enjoy and it can be something that's not too serious.

Cooking yummy food

I love cooking myself dinner, I love listening to my favourite music whilst doing this because it helps me concentrate on doing something I enjoy whilst I'm in my safe space on my own. For me Harry Styles makes me feel happy, confident and alive so it's really important to have foods and music that you enjoy whilst eating dinner.

Write feelings down

I sit down and almost have a conversation with myself, which sounds really odd but what I mean by that is writing down my feelings or writing myself letters for the future that I can come back to. We automatically associate writing down our feelings with something negative but it's a really good way to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper and it's a great way to spend time with yourself and get to know yourself a bit better. You can write about anything like what you did that day or something you want to tell your future self. It doesn't have to be something difficult or too much, just whatever you're feeling in the moment.

Take a bath

I am a big bath fan, I love bath bombs very much, it's a really good way to have no distractions and be on your own to just relax and focus on your feelings. I find baths very relaxing, you can light candles and feel rejuvenated. This isn't something that needs to be done for a long period of time, it can be done in 10 minutes but can change your whole day.

We hope these little tips inspire you to spend time with yourself this Valentines Day and every day for that matter. Don't forget to prioritise and treat yourself once in a while.
