The ‘AA’, as it’s known, is the oldest independent school of architecture. Founded in 1847, it was set up to help create a standardised qualification for new architects. It offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, ranging from the main disciplines to emergent technologies, projective cities and day-release courses like garden conservation and environmental access.
Alongside studies, the AA also hosts an acclaimed range of regular exhibitions, lectures, and symposia that help to maintain its reputation as an influential thought-leader in the field of architecture. In any given month you might find book launches, ‘live magazine’ events and gallery events taking place, with most events open to the public. These programmes provide a lot of creative nourishment for its students.
Based on the leafy expanse of Bedford Square, its quaint historic building contrasts with its central London location. It’s also right next door to the British Museum when you fancy a cultural excursion. Our Bloomsbury building is a 14-minute walk from AA and features secure bike storage, underfloor heating, free parcel collection and regular social events.
