In 1966, Brunel College of Technology was awarded a royal charter and became Brunel University London. Focused on educating engineers, it was named after Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, one of the leading figures in Britain’s industrial revolution.
50 years later, Brunel has continued growing and now includes even more subjects with the same imaginative, research-led approach. The university now includes three colleges, with Business Arts and Health departments added to the Engineering and Design education Brunel is known for.
Brunel is in Uxbridge, a town in West London with a lot to explore. For history fans, the area is home to the Battle of Britain Bunker which played a crucial role in the D-Day Landings. To find some tranquil bliss on the outskirts of the city, the Colne Valley National Park is nearby and provides over 40 square miles of parks, green spaces and reservoirs. Served by both the Piccadilly and Metropolitan Lines, central London is within easy reach, and Heathrow Airport is nearby if you want to travel further afield.
Our Bloomsbury building is right by Euston Square Tube which takes you direct to Brunel’s nearest station, Uxbridge, in around 45 minutes.
