London South Bank University

London South Bank University has grown out of the Borough Polytechnic Institute, which was founded in 1892. Now one of the top 5 biggest universities in London, LSBU is made up of seven schools and was recently named the Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards.

Community spirit is a major focus as LSBU. During the Second World War, university buildings were a safe haven used to provide food to locals, and today 70% of students are Londoners, primarily coming from nearby south London boroughs. Local residents are also invited to use the university’s facilities, to join in events and to take advantage of the legal advice clinics.

The main campus is near Elephant and Castle in the borough of Southwark. Situated between the buzz and attractions of central London and the artistic and cultural hubs in the south of the city, there’s always something happening nearby. The South Bank, with some of London’s best scenery and culture, is just a short bus ride away.

Our Bankside and Paris Gardens buildings are both a short walk away, with the former featuring a barbecue area and both offering free WiFi, free contents insurance and double beds.
