Located in the heart of Bloomsbury, UCL is consistently named in the Top 10 UK universities and frequently in the Top 20 worldwide. Bordered by the British Library and British Museum, it is surrounded by history, leafy squares and culture. Its 38,000 students from 150 different countries make it the third-largest university in the UK. It will also soon launch UCL East, a secondary campus in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.
UCL has produced 33 Nobel Prize winners as well as other notables like the inventor of the telephone and one of the co-discoverers of DNA. It’s also where the founders and ‘fathers of the nation’ of India, Kenya, Mauritius, Ghana, modern Japan and Nigeria all studied. Its founder, Jeremy Bentham, was the founder of the utilitarian ethics, and he asked for his body to be embalmed and displayed within the university after he died. He’s still there to this day in the South Cloisters of the main building, although his head is now a waxwork.
Everything central London has to offer is right on its doorstep. Oxford Street is minutes away, as is Soho, Regents Park, the clubs of the West End the exciting new King’s Cross development. And, best of all, our Bloomsbury building is located right across the road from the main UCL campus.
