3 ways you can use your cashback

cashback Life in the UK Student finance

The spring term at uni often means deadlines, but it's also a great time to explore your new city in the sun, give yourself opportunities to decompress away from uni stress, or try something new. Our top tip? Use your cashback to treat yourself to something you love.

Upgrade your gaming set-up

There’s no better way to enjoy your breaks from revision than kicking back with a new game. Why not indulge in   Nintendo Switch 2 & Mario Kart World as a reward for locking in all year? Or, if your setup is already supreme, why not treat yourself to a new keyboard, like this rainbow one? Don’t forget, iQ has a Discord channel for  where you can find mates to game with iQ Gammer Club.

Try a new cuisine

You can use your cashback to treat yourself or some mates to a meal. Food is a great way to connect with your mates, especially during deadline season. Having a chance to hang out with your mates away from study dates is a great way to relax. Why not check out some of these restaurants near your iQ for a super tasty dinner experience that'll become one of your fave memories of iQ life:

  • Hoppers, Kings Cross – a hidden gem of Coal Drops Yard, this Sri Lankan restaurant is a 15 minute walk from iQ Bloomsbury & has the best tasting menus you can share
  • Six by Nico, Bristol – with ever-changing, innovative tasting menus, Six by Nico has something for everyone, but we're obsessed with the Sherlock Holmes menu for a taste of old-world England. Plus, the Bristol location is only 7 minutes from iQ Bristol and 11 from iQ Water Lane
  • Howie’s, Edinburgh – an independent chain, Howie's serves up a modern twist on traditional Scottish meals like haggis, perfect if you want to try something new! Plus, their Waterloo location has an outside space making it perfect for a post-deadline treat
  • Street Pizza, Liverpool – this Gordon Ramsey restaurant makes fancy food affordable, and if you tell the server you're an iQ Student, you can get 30% off the bill with our discount code! If you need some food inspiration, Amelia from iQ Pavilions filmed her visit
  • Gaucho – think elevated pasta dishes and steak, with locations close to iQ Broderick House in Birmingham, and iQ Lambert and Fairfield in Manchester for you to visit
  • Dishoom – an iconic restaurant chain in the UK, Dishoom blends incredible Indian recipes with beautiful restaurant interiors. As a bonus, their Glasgow location is only 6 minutes from iQ Cullen House

Or if you’re wanting to improve your cooking skills, why not indulge with a dinner party recipe kit for you and your flatmates? You can reserve your onsite private dining room or just use your flat kitchen and use the cooking skills iQ SupperClub has taught you this year.

Visit somewhere new

One of the best parts about living away from home is getting to go to new places. Why not spend your cashback on a day trip with your mates? Here are our recommendations for places to visit:

  • Brighton – enjoy a look around the shops in the North Laines, the vintage toy museum, and the Brighton i360 before heading to the beach to grab a fish and chips and watch the sunset!
  • Norwich – for medieval streets, a beautiful cathedral from 1096, and loads of cool history, Norwich is a great place to visit if you want to learn more about England's history
  • London – there's loads to do in London, but why not book tickets to see a West End show, or grab dinner and walk along the River Thames to see iconic landmarks like Big Ben?
  • Edinburgh – ok, depending on where your iQ is in the UK, this one may need to be an overnight trip. Why not hike up to Arthur's seat before looking around the castle? You can even end your day with a trip to iQ BookClub favourite, Book Lovers
