The University of the Arts London is a collegiate foundation that was formed in 2003 of six legendary institutions. It’s made up of the Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, the London College of Communication, the London College of Fashion and Wimbledon College of Arts.
With a combined history stretching back over a century, its colleges have produced countless stars of the art and design world. Alumni of its colleges include Anish Kapoor, Terence Conran, Patrick Cox, Gwendoline Christie, Jarvis Cocker (who sang about Central Saint Martins on ‘Common People’) and M.I.A. Its end-of-year graduate shows are unmissable for those wanting to spot the next generation of artists and product designers.
With its colleges all over London, students studying under its banner take in many different influences along the way. Of particular note is the Central Saint Martins campus that opened in King’s Cross in 2011. The rapidly redeveloping canalside area includes a music venue, a cinema, restaurants, shopping, free-to-use ping pong tables, regular markets, free events and much more. The building itself is built around a breathtaking central atrium.
Our Bloomsbury building is walking distance to the central London College Of Fashion campus and Central Saint Martins main campus. Tufnell House is a short walk from the CSM Archway campus. Our City building is near the London College of Fashion’s Barbican campus, while our Hoxton and Shoreditch buildings are just down the road from their Hackney campus.
Paris Gardens is 25 minutes away from the Chelsea College of Arts and walking distance from the London College of Communication — as is Bankside. Across these buildings you’ll find features like onsite gyms, laundries, cinema rooms, pool tables, barbecue areas and bike storage.
