University of Sussex

Located on the outskirts of vibrant Brighton, the University of Sussex was named the 20th-best university in the UK by Times Higher Education in 2018. THE also rated it 39th best in the world for Media and Communications, International Relations, Development Studies, Geography and Politics, 50th for Business and Economics and 53rd for Law. QS World Rankings 2019 also placed it at No. 1 globally for Development Studies.

In terms of student experience, it scored highly in the Which? University Guide, with their 82% satisfaction rating some 3% higher than the national sector average. It also scored 85% on the diversity of local nightlife — no surprise considering the town is packed with great music venues and clubs.

Its leafy, quiet campus is surrounded by the stunning rolling hills of the South Downs, making it the only university in the UK to be situated inside a national park. The low height of the campus was designed so as to not disturb the views of the local area, and the site features two Grade I-listed buildings. It has everything you need for day-to-day student life, including eight restaurants and cafés, several food shops, a market, a bookshop, a pharmacy and health centre and a post office.

Our two Brighton buildings are a short bus or train ride from the campus. Abacus House has its own outdoor social space for sunny days, and Sawmills has its own laundry and is right in the middle of town and close to the beach.
