University of York
A member of the Russell Group, the University of York has grown from modest beginnings into one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in the north of England. Opening in 1963 with just 230 students, it’s now home to around 16,000, who enjoy the convenient, central location of its main Heslington campus, a short walk from York’s historic centre.
Expanding rapidly in recent years, the university provides world-class facilities to those studying in areas such as history, languages, music and philosophy, as well as students taught by its Faculty of Sciences. The Heslington campus is an attractive one, covering more than 200 acres of parkland and centred around lakes. It is renowned for its collection of wildfowl, the origin of the popular ‘Duck of the Day’ Twitter account. You will also find geese, swans, rabbits and all sorts of other wildlife on campus, and a number of sculptures and works of art add to the inspiring atmosphere.
Our iQ site, The Brickworks, lies to the north east of York city centre, within walking distance of the University of York. It has large social areas including TV, pool table and dining tables, as well as onsite laundry facilities and an outdoor courtyard.
