There are also drag queens and live DJs, giving everyone some entertainment to look forward to. While not exclusively for students, it welcomes anyone and everyone, and students can have a great, inclusive experience on a night out.

The Glee Club

A great night out doesn’t always involve bars and clubs, some can be more relaxed. A night at The Glee Club Birmingham will be filled with laughter and good food, as almost every night sees some of the biggest names in comedy take the stage and perform their stand-up routines. Some nights also have intimate music, burlesque, drag, and even spoken word poetry. If you’re looking for a student night in Birmingham a bit more out of the norm, then this is the place for you.

Tilt is a unique hangout specialising in craft beer and specialty coffee and teas. It’s also got pinball machines from throughout the decades. All machines are £1 per game and feature pop culture icons like Godzilla, the Avengers and even AC/DC. Tilt also host monthly events including jazz nights, improv shows and a pinball league. This is a great alternative if you’re looking for a student night that isn’t all about drinking and dancing the night away.

A monthly bingo event that has everyone up and dancing with the chance to win prizes in a chaotic game of bingo. Bongo’s Bingo is a great night out in Birmingham, but it’s open to everyone, so you’ll find all sorts here dancing on stage competing for whacky prizes.

Some things to keep in mind

Drink responsibly and take care of your mates - be aware of how much you consume and always stay safe and hydrated throughout the night. If you feel yourself getting a little too drunk, scale back on the alcohol, grab some water and even grab a bite to eat.

Book ahead. If somewhere looks like its going to be busy, book a space ahead, whether that’s a table or a spot on the guest list. If you think you may not be able to walk home later, it’s always wise to pre-book your taxi in case they’re busier at the end of the night.

Bring your student ID. Many places offer student discounts across the city, so make sure to bring your Student ID for saving opportunities. And don’t forget your normal ID as proof of age too.
