A Guide to Egham

Good news, if you're studying in Egham, Surrey, we have some fun things for you to get up to. Home to the university town of Royal Holloway, it is recognised as one of the most scenic campuses in the world. With acres of royal parks, we tend to agree. 

Making Friends, Making Plans 

Not only is it a great setting to study, but with a student population of over 12,000 and a huge range of societies and clubs, it’s the perfect place to meet new people and join in.

Now that you’ve made your friends you can plan some fun away from your studies. A day out at Windsor Castle, a boat ride on the River Thames or just a pub brunch down the classic cobbled high street, there is plenty for new students to choose from. 

Right on your doorstep is The Boilerhouse Café on the Royal Holloway campus. They have the best hot chocolates and vegan treats and what makes this even better is our iQ The Pad and iQ The Podium buildings are located just five minutes walk from Royal Holloway.

Paddleboarding, Parks, and Picnics 

If you love being at one with nature, Surrey is home to tons of nature reserves, parks and gardens. Painshill Park Is the perfect place for outdoor fun, nature and heritage. You can enjoy a stroll with your friends and Bridgeton was also filmed around the corner so it’s definitely Instagram-worthy!  

Just a 10-minute drive from Painshill Park is RHS Wisley Gardens, a picturesque place to visit during the summer months, where flowers are blooming and an arch perfect for pics!  

If that wasn't enough, why not explore the river Thames and go for a scenic paddle boat ride down the Runnymede. With paddleboards available for hire for just £20! Once your workout Is done, treat yourself to one of the various restaurants overlooking the Thames.  

Historic sights and thrilling rides

Head down to landmarks such as the Jurors and Magna Carta memorial for all things history. If historical sightseeing isn’t at the top of your list, you can hop on a double-decker to Thorpe Park. Just a 30-minute bus journey from iQ The Pad and iQ The Podium, you'll reach the ultimate theme park resort. Group days out with your mates are always the best.
