Student city guide to Leicester

The many different neighbourhoods in Leicester and its surroundings range from the chilled canal area to the vibrant creative quarter to what is reputedly Britain’s most multicultural street. Students dominate the city, with over 65,000 studying across the three universities.

The home of the remains of Richard III, other attractions in the city include the National Space Museum and Leicester Cathedral. There’s also plenty of modern culture to enjoy across a wealth of venues and events. Leicester hosts the Riverside Festival, Download and Noisily music festivals in the summer, as well as plenty of student nights throughout the year. There’s also a growing number of independent bars and restaurants across the city too, making for an exciting food and drink scene.

There’s plenty for sports fans to enjoy, too. It is of course home to recent Premier League champions, Leicester City, as well as renowned rugby, cricket and basketball teams.

Our student accommodation, Grosvenor House, has its own outdoor courtyard with decking and seating. It’s well-located near the city centre and within walking distance of both De Montfort University and the University of Leicester.
